چکیده

Results H2S levels in induced sputum from severe and nonsevere asthmatic patients were significantly higher than those from healthy subjects but there was no difference between the severe and non-severe group. Serum H2S levels were 10 times higher than in sputum and these were also higher in severe and non-severe asthmatic subjects compared to healthy subjects. There was a positive correlation between sputum and blood H2S levels (r=0.42, p<0.05). Sputum H2S levels were negatively correlated with FEV1 %predicted (r=-0.42, p=0.003), and with reversibility to salbutamol (r= -0.54, p<0.01). There was a correlation between sputum H2S and sputum neutrophils and macrophages, and a negative correlation between sputum H2S and FeNO levels.

Impact of theophylline/corticosteroid combination therapy on sputum hydrogen sulfide levels in patients with COPD.

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has emerged as a new and important endogenous regulator of inflammation in recent years [1] and may also protect from emphysema induced by cigarette smoke exposure [2]. We have also recently shown that H2S can inhibit airway smooth muscle cell proliferation and inflammatory mediator release in vitro [3]. Serum levels of H2S positively correlate with the decline in lung fu...

Correlation between serum H2S and pulmonary function in children with bronchial asthma.

Endogenous hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has generated recent research interest because of its potential function as an inflammatory mediator. Despite its apparent functions in vascular smooth muscle, an important player in airway remodeling in asthma, little research has been done to assess the role of H2S in the pathogenesis of asthma. To determine whether serum H2S concentration is correlated with ...

Effect of Thyrotoxicosis on Gene Expression of Hydrogen Sulfide-producing Enzymes in Epididymal Adipose Tissue of Male Rats

Introduction: Thyroid hormones are involved in the regulation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) biosynthesis. The aim of this study is to determine effects of thyrotoxicosis on H2S levels and mRNA expression of cystathionine-β-synthase (CBS), cystathionine-γ-lyase (CSE) and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (3-MST) in the adipose tissue of rat. Materials and Methods: Male rats were divided into the ...

Imbalance of Endogenous Hydrogen Sulfide and Homocysteine in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Combined with Cardiovascular Disease

Background: Considerable studies showed associations between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD), we evaluated the role of endogenous hydrogen sulfide (H2S)/homocysteine (Hcy) in patients with COPD combined with CVD. Methods: Fifty one stable patients with COPD were enrolled (25 COPD, 26 COPD + CVD). Lung function, sputum, peripheral blood samples, seru...

A Comparative Metabolomics Approach Reveals Early Biomarkers for Metabolic Response to Acute Myocardial Infarction

Discovery of novel biomarkers is critical for early diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Serum metabolite profiling of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), unstable angina (UA) and healthy controls was performed using gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS), solid-phase microextraction coupled to gas chromatography mass spectrometry (SPME-GC/MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance...
